Commencing his trade in Ipswich under Merryl Signs in West Ipswich, Gene Pitman has worked in the sign industry since 1989. Through the ever changing signage industry Gene started from brush work, having signed many businesses in Ipswich throughout the decades and still continues to service businesses of Ipswich City through signs today.
As the industry moved from brush to computer cut vinyl, to digital print graphics and now to vehicle wraps, signage technology has come a long way and Gene has seen it all.
Having worked in major national sign manufacturing companies completing signs for the Olympic Games in Sydney, the Hard Rock Cafe Guitar in Surfers and working on major sites like BP Service Centres, McDonalds, General Motors and many many more, Gene moved into the large format digital print sector for a while, to grow his experience in the digital arena.
As a veteran in sign making, Gene mastered the art of vehicle wrapping and has received various accreditations for his quality and attention to detail. As a professional he is well respected in the community and by his peers and offers advice to vinyl manufactures, clients and industry training to his team of trades people.
Having grown up in Bundamba, Gene has lived in Ipswich since 1972. It’s his home town. Sign Sculpt was founded in 2007 and is located in Sumner Park, to be central to both Ipswich and Brisbane. The company has since grown to include brands like Auto Wraps Australia, a national vehicle graphics company and now Ipswich Sign Co. dedicated to his home town.
